Research: Surgical implant for rhinoplasty linked to infection

Rhinoplasty and nose surgery employ different techniques and prosthetic implants to achieve desired outcomes, shapes and sizes. The two most popular implants used for “nose job” procedures are: Medpor and Gore-Tex. Research indicates that these artificial implants can lead to infection. in a study, Medpor was more likely to cause infection than Gore-Tex. Continue reading

‘Gun-shy’ about getting a Nose Job?

Rhinoplasty was one of the first, and is still, one of the most socially-acceptable procedures in plastic surgery. At least most of the world is comfortable with it. Apparently it is taboo in certain regions. Newly elected Egyptian legislator, Anwar al-Bikimy was expelled and forced to tender his resignation after leaders of his political party, al-Nour, found that the bandages on his face were not the result of a beating by gunmen, as they had been told; but, were after-care for a nose job. It is hard to imagine a place where having plastic surgery could cost you your job. Luckily, we have no such societal restraints in our country. Having nose surgery is OUR choice, and it should be!
