The silicone gel breast implant revolutionized plastic surgery, giving women a new option to enhance their appearance and confidence. Three Atlanta-based plastic surgeons talked about the contemporary medical miracle.
American Banking and Market News posted the thoughts from board-certified surgeons Dr. E. Anthony Musarra II, Dr. James Leake, and Dr. Michael Petrosky of Plastic Surgery Center of the South in Marietta, Georgia, about the silicone implant and their agreement on its remarkable lifespan. This comes after Aesthetic Surgery Journal recently printed a report about the breast surgery implant option.
Dr. Musarra remarked that the advancements in silicone implants have not diminished the fact that “it’s essentially the same technology, and it still enables us to produce great results for patients with incredibly high success rates.”
The surgeons have practiced together for 15 years. Their firsthand knowledge and experience with plastic surgery extends to breast augmentation with silicone implants.
Dr. Leake cites the longevity of silicone implant usage and safety to decades of research and clinical trials. Shapes, sizes, texture and profile have changed, along with placement ways to meet patient needs. “Methods and materials have changed for the better, and inventive products and methods give patients and surgeons options that enable us to create more natural-looking results.”
Breast augmentation was the second-most plastic surgery in the US in 2011 with 316,848 procedures. This trailed the leader, liposuction, with 325,332 treatments.
