“I just pinged back into shape like a rubber band after the kids; I don’t know how I did it. I eat like a horse, don’t count calories and have never owned a set of scales. I gained an entire human when I was pregnant with the octuplets, going from 10st (140lbs) to over 19st (266lbs), but two months later, I was a size 8 again. Now, I never weigh myself.” (TMZ). This hard-to-believe quote is not preposterous because it isn’t possible – but, because of who said it.
Nadya Suleman, known publicly as “Octomom” is claiming that she doubled her size and regained her body with nothing more than an intense diet and exercise regimen. And while that is definitely a very positive way to get your body back after childbirth; and is something we should all make time for – there has been speculation that she had a body lift.
It certainly makes sense that some skepticism exists– not because people don’t want to believe her…but, it does seem very unlikely that the Laws of Physics were suspended, just for her. Gaining over 125 pounds (mainly in the abdomen) causes extreme stretching of the skin. The thing is – we don’t care if she did, or didn’t, have a body lift; but, it does raise the question as to why – if she did, that she would take the credit for it, rather than letting a talented surgeon receive kudos for a job well done? Certainly there is no shame in a woman who had eight babies ‘in one sitting’ (and 14 total), treating herself to a ‘Mommy Makeover’, and giving credit…where it is due.
